First Editions introduces ‘Baton Rouge,’ a new dogwood variety for spring 2012.
Growing to only 3 to 4 feet, ‘Baton Rouge’ remains compact and full with minimal care. The plant thrives in full sun and grows best in USDA Zones 3 to 7.
This dogwood also offers year-long interest in the garden or landscape. In spring, white flowers turn to white berries. The brighter green leaves transform to reddish-purple foliage in the fall. After the leaves drop, bright red stems keep the plant interesting through the winter months.
