Athena Brazil and ForemostCo Plant Brokers have formed a partnership geared toward accommodating ever-increasing demands in the North American market for unrooted cuttings (URC) of perennials.
In addition to Athena Brazil’s perennial line, ForemostCo, a Miami-based producer of starter material with offshore operations in Costa Rica and Guatemala, will broker Athena’s full product line, which includes more than 300 patented and non-patented varieties.
The new working relationship adds diversity to the recently consolidated perennial URC market — an integration triggered by Darwin Perennial’s acquisition of Green Leaf Plants Colombia or Flores del Amanecer (FDA) in Bogotá, Columbia, from Aris Horticulture Inc.
Collaboration with other companies to supply quality young plants to the North American and European markets is not new to ForemostCo or Athena Brazil. In April 2014, ePlantSource added Athena Brazil to its list of five new partner companies who will supply products through ePlantSource.com. In July 2014, ForemostCo announced an agreement with Handelskwekerij van der Velden to support each other in primary markets — Canada and the U.S. for ForemostCo and the European Union for Handelskwekerij van der Velden.
