The HGTV Home Plant Collection unveiled its first shade collection, Shady Showoffs, this summer. The new line features exclusive mixes like Copper Glory and Lush Gold with plant varieties that thrive in shady and sun-dappled areas of the yard and garden. A leading home and lifestyle brand, HGTV worked in conjunction with Agricola Management Group to develop Shady Showoffs in addition to its Expressions Annuals and Essential Perennials Collections.

“Virtually every yard has an area that’s shaded by tree canopies and finding the right plants to grow and perform there can be a challenge for home gardeners” says Randy Hunter, managing partner of Agricola Management Group, exclusive licensee for the Plant Collection. “We’ve taken out the guesswork with our new shade collection featuring pre-selected annual mixes that perform well in shady conditions.Shady Showoffs live up to their name with large, striking flowers, compact growing habit and brightly colored foliage.”

HGTV and Agricola selected the varieties in the Shady Showoffs line for beauty, hardiness, complementary colors and shade performance. The new mixes include Copper Gold with Begonia ‘Unstoppable Upright Fire’ in bright orange, ‘Main Street Wall Street’ coleus in burgundy, Ipomoea ‘Bright Ideas Black’ and Lysimachia ‘Goldilocks’ in light green. Lush Gold components include Begonia ‘Arcada Yellow,’ ‘Main Street Broadway’ coleus in dark burgundy with yellow, Ipomoea ‘Bright Ideas Lime’ and Euphorbia ‘Stardust White Flash.’
