PPA Names Its 2010 Plant Of The Year

Baptisia australis is the Perennial Plant Association’s (PPA) 2010 Perennial Plant of the Year.

Baptisia carries the common names blue false indigo, wild indigo and baptisia. Less commonly occurring names are indigo weed, rattleweed and rattlebrush.

Baptisia thrives in full sun. Plants grown in partial shade may require staking. This hardy perennial grows 3 to 4 feet tall and wide with an upright habit. It’s recommended to anchor the back of borders.
