Proven Winners Names Schoellhorn’s Replacement
March 5, 2012 Proven Winners has appointed Kevin Hurd as new products director. Hurd began his role with Proven Winners on February 27. He will eventually replace Rick Schoellhorn, Proven Winners’ current new products director, when Schoellhorn retires this coming September.
Hurd was most recently a product representative for Darwin Perennials and Ball FloraPlant. Before joining Ball, Kevin was a breeder and research horticulturist for Walters Gardens. While working with Walters, Hurd was a key player in the development of the Proven Winners Perennials partnership that was launched at Spring Trials in 2011.
Hurd’s key responsibilities with Proven Winners will be to find new plant varieties with strong consumer appeal that are profitable for growers. Hurd will also develop and maintain relationships with plant breeders.

Hurd will serve as Proven Winners North America’s lead source of new product information to breeders, and will oversee the company’s internal trialing processes.
