Just in time for Mother’s Day, Proven Winners has selected its 2009 Mother of the Year. The contest attracted 160 nominees, with Shirley Spade of Fitchburg, Wisc., coming out on top. Spade was nominated by her granddaughter Angela Spade, who wrote a 100-word essay about Shirley, calling her “The Can Do Grandma.”
Spade will be awarded 40 Proven Winners plants, Proven Winners plant food, a WaterWise kit and an iGarden T-shirt. She will be announced as the grand-prize winner this Sunday on The Weather Channel, following every Proven Winners commericial.
