Schoneveld Shows Off Jive Cyclamen

Schoneveld continues to introduce new cyclamen to the U.S. market. This year’s big introduction is Jive, a series that debuts with eight colors for 2012. Schoneveld has even developed a special campaign for its introduction–”Let’s Dance. Jive!”–and special marketing materials are available to interested growers.
Here in the U.S., Schoenveld’s Jeroen Star says the breeder is shifting its focus to three particular lines of cyclamen in the upcoming year: Jive, XL and Allure. Jive’s flowers are especially wavy. The colors in the series include Salmon Red, Dark Salmon Pink, Light Salmon Pink, White with Eye, Cream White, Neon Pink, Dark Violet and Wine Red.
In Europe, Star indicates consumers find multiple uses for Schoneveld’s mini cyclamen, including in the garden. Star has been somewhat surprised the U.S. market has been slow to accept minis for the outdoors, but he believes the potential is there and Jive gives growers and consumers yet product to consider.
Beyond 2012, Star says Schoneveld will introduce three additional colors to Jive. A new series of 6-inch cyclamen called Mammut with also be introduced.
“Everything is so focused on intermediates and large in the U.S.,” Star says.
