Shutting Down Illegal Propagation

RijnPlant, a Dutch company that specializes in selecting anthurium, bougainvillea and calathea varieties, reports it has stopped an international network from illegally propagating its patented variety, bougainvillea ‘Vera.’ The network spanned 20 companies in Japan, Israel and The Netherlands. All parties agreed to settle out of court. The illegal activity was discovered by Hortis Holland, which protects breeders’ rights and monitors royalty collections. Royalty Administration International also played a strong role in resolving the case.
