Spotlight On: 'Elsie's Gold' Sedum

‘Elsie’s Gold’ sedum forms a bushy mound of serrated succulent green leaves with leaf margins that begin golden-yellow and age to cream by autumn.

‘Elsie’s Gold’ blooms midsummer in masses of small, star-shaped pink flowers packed together into flat-top heads, much like broccoli. Each flower head begins pale at first, darkening over many weeks to a rich magenta by fall. Blooms may be cut and dried for arrangements.

The sedum is ideal for beds and borders due to its attractive foliage and long-lasting flowers, as well as its cold hardiness. It is also a magnet for butterflies. Plugs and liners are now available from Pacific Plug & Liner and Green Leaf Plants.
