Steamy Tropicals And Foliage

Kalanchoe thyrsiflora `Fantastic’ is a new variegated version of the popular flapjack/paddle plant.  It has all the positive traits of the non-variegated form with the addition of a rich gold variegation, which accents the red margins of the leaves.

‘Zing’ is a breakthrough hybrid for a large flowering anthurium, in that it is heat tolerant and disease resistant. Brilliant red flowers contrast perfectly above glossy green foliage. Flowers are long lasting and the color is vivid even during summer temperatures. It’s recommended for 6- to 10-inch containers.
With a long-lasting deep rose color, neoregelia ‘Puppy Love’ is excellent for the interior or tropical landscape. Unlike other neoregelia, Oglesby hybrids develop vivid color before the natural bloom cycle, giving the consumer extended beauty and value. Six months or more of color is not unusual. ‘Puppy Love’ is low maintenance and virtually disease-free with low water requirements. It’s recommended for 6- to 8-inch containers.
‘Goldie Locks’ is a striking vriesea boasting a red inflorescence enhanced by the beautiful contrasting golden yellow bracts. ‘Goldie Locks’ exhibits a compact growth habit and is recommended for 4- and 6-inch containers.

Graptophyllum ‘Chocolate’ showcases glossy foliage, dark-chocolate in color and a variegated “shrimp pink” down the center of the leaf. ‘Chocolate’ is perfect alone or in mixed containers. It may reach up to 3 feet in height and enjoys partial to full sun exposure.
The flowers of senecio ‘Orange Crown Mexican Flame Vine’ turn to red with age. ‘Orange Crown Mexican Flame’ is excellent for butterfly gardens. It prefers bright light for maximum flowers and has low maintenance requirements.
Pereskia ‘Lemon Vine’ belongs to the cactus family. ‘Lemon Vine’ has beautiful golden foliage, making it excellent for hanging baskets and pots. This pereskia also has low maintenance requirements.
Clerodendrum ‘Butterfly Flower’ displays flowers in panicles of French and marine blue flowers that resemble blue butterfly wings. This ever-blooming shrub may reach up to 4 feet in height.

‘Peppermint’ is an intermediate size strap-leaved caladium variety. With dark rose-red laminar areas and broad white veins, ‘Peppermint’ is useful in 4-inch pots and up but should be de-eyed for smaller pot sizes. ‘Peppermint’ also makes an interesting hanging basket. Mature leaves can burn in full sun in the South.
‘Mt. Fuji’ is an intermediate to tall white strap-leaved variety. It displays a nice full mounding habit with or without de-eyeing in 6-inch and larger pots. Compared to ‘White Wing,’ ‘Mt. Fuji’ finishes one to two weeks faster and has broader, more oval leaves that are whiter in color. In the landscape, ‘Mt. Fuji’ can take full sun and reaches heights of up to 18 inches or more.

From the Spathiphyllum Collection comes ‘Maestro,’ which displays three to five rich, full-sized flowers that complement its intended large pot size. Maestro grows quickly with a finish time of 44 to 48 weeks.
The Bambino series is a new group of mini alocasia from ForemostCo. Produced from tissue, ‘Curly’ from this series maintains a compact growth in pots and is suitable for 4-, 5- and 6-inch pot production.
