Syngenta Launches Photo Prize 2010 Contest

Syngenta’s 2010 Photo Prize competition launched today, which seeks outstanding images of plants, landscapes, communities and technologies in context of global agriculture.

Centered on the company’s purpose, “Bringing plant potential to life,” the competition will award first, second and third prizes of $8000, $5000 and $3000 respectively. These prizes are sponsored by Canon, a world-leading innovator and provider of imaging solutions. Open to amateur and professional photographers, entries can be submitted between January 20 and June 20, 2010.

A website dedicated to the photo prize will feature the ongoing submissions and showcase winners and entries from previous years. An international jury will convene after the submission deadline to assess the entries and the judging criteria can be found at SyngentaPhoto.com. A separate internal competition is also open to all Syngenta employees.

“To mark Syngenta’s 10th anniversary, our company purpose has been chosen as the theme of this year’s competition,” says Jonathan Seabrook, Head of Corporate Affairs. “The rich diversity of plants is central to both our business and global agriculture and photography is the ideal medium through which to capture that diversity.”
