Terra Nova Debuts New Hardy Penstemon Variety

Penstemon-Dakota-Burgundy-Terra-Nova-NurseriesTerra Nova Nurseries has debuted its latest penstemon variety, ‘Dakota Burgundy.’ The new variety is a more compact perennial than Penstemon ‘Dark Towers’ and Penstemon ‘Mystica’ and was bred to be a tough plant with an extended lifespan.

Penstemon ‘Dakota Burgundy’ has glossy, purple-black leaves and lavender-to-violet flowers in June, which will attract hummingbirds. After bloom time, ‘Dakota Burgundy’ produces showy, dark seed heads that make for great cut flowers in the fall.
