Terra Nova Nurseries is proud to introduce a brand-new collection of heucherella varieties called the Heucherella Cascade series, the first small-leaf trailers available to growers. There are two new introductions in the series, Heucherella ‘Gold Cascade’ and Heucherella ‘Copper Cascade’; additional varieties will be introduced over time. As a whole, this new group of heucherellas features smaller leaves and habits as compared to the company’s Heucherella Falls series.
Heucherella ‘Gold Cascade’ has gold-colored foliage with a dramatic, red-flushed center marked with darker veins. The leaves are scallop-shaped and the habit is trailing, making it a great low-spreading groundcover. In mid-spring, ‘Gold Cascade’ produces short spikes of light coral flowers. The average size of ‘Gold Cascade’ is 8-inches tall and 24-inches wide. It is hardy in USDA Zones 4 to 9.
Heucherella ‘Copper Cascade’ has refined copper-gold foliage that is muted, but distinct, and holds its color all year. The leaves are shaped more like those of a heuchera and the trailing stems are very pliable. ‘Copper Cascade’ is vigorous and easy to grow. It combines the best of all tiarella and heuchera attributes. For optimal growth, this variety prefers well-drained, humus-rich soil.
