The Southern Living Plant Collection is introducing new varieties for Spring 2010. The highlights include an earlier-blooming Early Bird crape myrtles, brighter-hued Flirt and Obsession nandinas, vibrant Vogue mandevillas, lush Cleopatra liriope and more.

Obsession is a new and distinct variety of Nandina domestica characterized by its upright, compact and dense plant habit, slow growth rate and unique, bright red colored young foliage and deep green-colored mature foliage.

‘Stars and Stripes’ pentas features prolific scarlet flower clusters with pink centers, along with lush, dark green and white variegated foliage. It grows 12 to 24 inches and blooms spring until fall. It’s perfect for planting in time for Memorial Day and Independence Day.

‘Princess Blush’ verbena is incredibly floriferous with no bald spots or breaking apart. Blush pink flowers with just a hint of deep pink in the center rise over striking green leaves. This verbena blooms spring until fall.

A versatile medium size shrub, ‘Delta Jazz’ crape myrtle features bright medium pink blooms contrasting brilliantly with its unique dark burgundy cupped leaves.
