Danziger’s new line of salvia includes Sallyfun, Sallynia and SallyG.

Sallyfun, a Salvia farincea variety, has a spreading growth habit. It offers a long blooming period and can be counted on for outstanding performance in the garden. Sallyfun is also suitable for use in large containers and as a potted plant.

Sallynia, an S. coccinea variety, has a more upright growth habit. It is also quite compact. An early bloomer, it produces large flower heads on a well-branching plant continuously throughout the season. With a tolerance for high temperatures, use Sallynia in containers and gardens, or as a potted plant.

Pretty Lily

New from Florida Aquatic Nurseries is the Crinum menehune (Red Bog Lily), developed by Sean Callahan of Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden. It is a cross between a dwarf Caribbean species with green leaves and flowers like Crinum americanum, and the 6-foot tall, red-leaved Crinum amabile.

The plant’s characteristics are similar to that of Crinum americanum. The leaves are from 1 and 2 inches wide and are a deep burgundy, keeping their color for most of their life. The individual flowers open with a delicate, reddish pink color that is just slightly lighter than the foliage. For more information, visit www.floridaaquatic.com

Angelic Blooms

From the same breeder as Gallery dahlias and Happy Single dahlias, the Dark Angel dahlia line from Fleurizon is a crop for smaller pots. It features dark foliage and very vibrant flower colors. Dark Angel dahlias are the only dark foliage varieties for 4-inch pots. Flowering continues from spring until fall frost.

The series currently has eight varieties, all spectacular in flower color and striking with the dark leaf background. The flowers will bloom continuously and not just in flushes, giving the consumer a long time to enjoy the plant. Pinching is recommended but not necessary.
