2009 Field Trials: Oklahoma State University
Trial Manager: Haldor Howard
Planting dates: Week of May 11
Weather Conditions: Conditions were mild in May, became extremely hot in June. July and August had a mix of heat and a few milder days with some rain.
Best in Show: Zinnia ‘Zahara Double Orange’
Top 5 varieties overall: Catharanthus ‘Pacifica XP Cranberry’ (vinca). Superior appearance all season.
Coleus ‘Versa Crimson Gold.’ Attractive foliage, perhaps best of the series.
Dianthus ‘Bouquet Rose Magic.’ Magical performer.
Gomphrena ‘Las Vegas Purple.’ Very nice show and an excellent bet for hot summers.
Petunia ‘Ramblin’ Pink.’ Beautiful and we unintentionally discovered what seems to be superior resistance to phytophthora.
