Syngenta Opens Application Period For Grow More Vegetables Seed Grant Program

Syngenta has opened the application period for the second year of its Grow More Vegetables Seed Grant Program, which provides assistance to schools and community organizations interested in establishing or enhancing garden programs. Grant rewards aim to create opportunities to educate communities across the U.S. on the benefits of fresh vegetable production and consumption through hands-on experiences with agriculture.

Three recipients will be awarded a package that includes seed, supplies and a monetary award. Applications will be accepted online through September 15.

Syngenta awards one winner in each of the following categories:

  • Elementary and middle schools
  • High schools and Future Farmer of America (FFA) chapters
  • Community groups and organizations

“In its first year, the Grow More Vegetables Grant Program received more than 200 applications — showing just how passionate schools and community organizations are about their gardens,” says Mary Streett DeMers, Syngenta vegetables communications lead. “We learned about some wonderfully innovative ways that communities are being educated on the benefits of fresh vegetable production and consumption. We can’t wait to see what’s in store this year.”

Applications for 2014 grants are being accepted now through midnight September 15, 2014.
