Acer campestre 'Red'
The foliage is finely divided and is said to resemble a dragon's claw, hence the name. The growth habit is like a smaller form of'Crimson Queen’; a compact, cascading mound. The young leaves are a bright scarlet in spring, becoming dark burgundy as they develop, and finally turning bright red in autumn.'Red Dragon'is more sun tolerant than other dissectum cultivars but dappled shade is preferred.
