Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' (Redbud)
Handsome purple leaf variety of redbud. New foliage emerges a shimmering purple red and changes to a more subdued color as the season progresses. Before the leaves appear the tree is covered with purple-pink flowers, darker than the species. As Forest Pansy matures, it takes on a vase shape and tends to branch low on the trunk. Fall foliage: Yellow.
