Malus sargentii 'Select A' (Firebird Crabapple)
This compact, slow growing crab was discovered by Johnson's Nursery, Menomonee Falls, WI, from a crop of open pollinated Malus sargentii seedlings. It is smothered in fall with small, dark red fruit that persists until March. This cultivar is resistant to apple scab and is grafted on a 42" standard.
