Low-growing, forming a dense mat 4-6 inches high. Medium, bright green color. During late fall and winter the exposed leaves are purple tinged. Very hardy. Found in 1931 in the Pedkisco Creek area of Alberta, Canada, near the Morden Research Station and introduced by them in 1967.
