Miscanthus 'Yaku Jima' (Maiden Grass, Porcupine Grass, Japanese Silver Grass, Zebra Grass)
An ideal grass for smaller gardens. Leaf blades are green and arch gracefully downward. Tiny buff flowers with red tinges emerge in fluffy panicles above the foliage in August-September. Panicles fade to silver in fall. Foliage turns reddish-brown in fall fading to tan over winter. Shape: Upright mound.
