Proven Winners continues to try to promote themselves & pass the cost on thru more expensive liners. In the 40 years I have been in the nursery business I have felt only Wave Petunias have been successful. I have been asked for Wave petunias every year for many years, even when they should not have been planted in the fall in the deep south. I think it was mostly luck to have the right product at the right time. Instead growers, retailers should focus on consistant quality plants above & beyond what is currently accepted as good quality now, as well as, good service then their nursery name will function better than branding. Retailers should focus on retailing, better displays, changing displays regularly, improve their plant care so that now matter what the weather is they look like they have fresh plants that a consumer would have the impulse to buy.
