Rattlesnake Bites Medical Marijuana Grower At Walmart

While shopping for mulch in the garden section of a Walmart in Clarkston, Wash., Mica Craig, a licensed medical marijuana grower, was bitten by a rattlesnake, multiple news outlets report. The incident occurred on May 11.

“I reached down to grab the stick to move it out of the way, and the snake stretched out, turned around and got its fangs in my right hand,” Craig told Reuters. “I slung it off, and I did a tap dance on it until it was dead.”

Craig was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital and was initially released. After his hand swelled up a second time, Craig returned. The Lewiston Tribune reports that Craig was treated with six bags of anti-venom.

“They got all the poison out of me but they don’t know how bad the muscle damage will be,” Craig told the paper.

Walmart has apologized for the incident and are working to ensure the Clarkston location is now snake free.

“At this point, it appears to be an isolated incident,” Walmart Spokeswoman Kayla Whaling told Reuters. “We are working with a pest management team, which is conducting a sweep of the property to ensure there is no additional rattlesnake activity.”

So why is it so relevant that he's a marijuana grower? Seems strange to have that as the headline. So what? Dori

what was the purpose of mentioning that Craig is a medicinal marijuana grower? this has nothing to do with medicinal marijuana, just a guy shopping like anyother and gets bitten by a snake in walmart! really dumb

Why was the fact that he grew marijauna made to seem like the subject of this article? His occupation had nothing to with with the fact that he was bitten by a snake at Wal-Mart?

I think it should have had the title…Wal-mart rattlesnake attacks medical marijuana patient.

Headline should have been: Hand of God strikes medical marijuana grower for his sins. C'mon gang. My headline is only slightly more fantastic than yours!

If it was grower for XYZ Wholesale Nursery, the title would have been "Rattlesnake Bites XYX Wholesale Nursery Grower At Walmart." I think the headline wanted to specify it was a grower, but since medical marijuana farm names are not readily recognized, they made it more generic, but if they didn't specify where he worked at all, the story would have been too unspecific to be a story whatsoever. Who cares what he grows, it's a good idea to be on the lookout for rattlesnakes this time of year around our farms and in our garden centers and I'm glad this story reminds people of that. I think some people need calm down through whatever means they see fit…

Bradley Kunhardt… You have a LOT to learn about medicinal cannabis. It's not a game. It's not some shyster way of getting high legally, it's not a sin. Had you done even a tiny bit of your own research, you would already know this. Search "Granny Storm Crow 2012" and read the PDF that she's put out. That should take you a few months. Be well!
