As the National Sales Manager – Horticulture, Wonders will travel throughout North America, while residing in Ocala, FL.
Greenhouse Grower recently caught up with Wonders and asked him about how he plans to work with growers to help them deal with important issues facing them.
Greenhouse Grower (GG): How did your previous experience prepare you for this new role?
Lee Wonders: Having more than 20 years of experience as a grower, I can understand what the grower or manager goes through in their normal day. This helps me identify products that can help them with their needs to improve quality and productivity. Working as a manufacture sales rep for eight years gives me the experience to move product through distribution channels to make sure the customer has the best service possible.
GG: What are the some of the biggest issues or concerns you’ve heard from the growers you work with, and how do you plan to help them deal with these issues?
Wonders: Most always, the largest concern from growers is the condition of the economy. With rising prices on everything from products to labor, growers are looking into ways to automate systems to cut production costs. This is a big area that Dosatron brings: top-quality equipment to fill their needs.
GG: What are the biggest challenges this industry is currently facing? Conversely, what are some of the biggest opportunities on the horizon?
Wonders: The biggest challenge is rising labor costs and qualified labor availability, and the best opportunity is to automate production. Dosatron is one solution: having the ability to precisely control fertilization and water quality is a huge asset to the grower.
GG; Looking ahead, what role can you play in moving this industry forward?
Wonders: Working for Dosatron gives me the ability to help growers with their needs and to improve their productivity and quality.
