New Event to Highlight New Varieties for Plant Growers in Western Canada

New-Blooms-EventDeb’s Greenhouse in Morinville, AB, Canada will host the first “New Blooms for Canadian Nurseries & Retailers” event on Thursday, July 5. The goal of the event is to bring new varieties and programs to independent growers and retailers in Western Canada. Partnering with High Q Greenhouses, the event will have a container trial garden of future releases for visitors to evaluate.

“As a young plant producer in western Canada, it is important for me and my customers to see real trial plants grown under our climate conditions,” says Michiel Verheul, Proprietor of High Q Greenhouses. “This event will give all of our grower and retail industry members a chance to see them grown out as finished specimens, so we can confidently offer these new varieties to our consumers.”

In addition to the live plants trial, guests will have a full day schedule of speakers, including Chris Berg of Westhoff & PAC, Judy Born of Florist, Robert Bett of PlantHaven International, and Dominik Neisser of Vivero Internacional. Topics will range from new varieties and programs, as well as young plant propagation and finishing, to retail.

“We have a very strong network of independent growers and retailers in western Canada who are very supportive of one another in growing our businesses and market,” says Deb Foisey, Owner of Deb’s Greenhouse. “This is an event that I hope makes those connections even stronger and continues to support the independent retailers in offering the latest and greatest from plant breeders worldwide.”
