Use Videos Featuring Your Millennial Employees To Recruit New Talent

Student Video Horticulture Education

The University of Georgia used five Millennial students to educate others about “What Is Horticulture?”

Your Millennial employees may be the best spokespeople you have for your business, and the best the industry has for recruiting new talent. Why not encourage them to make a 30-second video talking about why they got into horticulture? Then post the videos on your website and social media pages, along with YouTube, and your Millennial employee’s own social media pages.

The idea came from Tim Duffin, Marketing Communications Leader at Ball Horticultural Company, during a discussion held at GROW Summit 2015 on ways to invest in the industry to attract the next generation of growers, managers, and leaders. He said Ball realized that students in the schools related better to its Millennial employees for recruiting, so the company made a short video of Millennial employees talking about what they do in the green industry and now sends it to universities as part of its recruiting package.

Letting Millennials tell the story of why they got into horticulture in the form of short videos, to those who can relate to them best, is a simple way to you can invest in the industry. Try it at your place of business.
