All-America Selections (AAS) is touring North Carolina for the first time for the 2014 AAS Summer Summit/Road Trip, which will be held June 16-19.
AAS hosts the gathering annually for judges, breeders, brokers, growers, display gardens, retailers, media and anyone who would like to learn about local horticulture and AAS, and tour some of its trial sites.
Registration is now open for the educational tour of North Carolina farms and markets. The tour will begin in the Charlotte, N.C. area, then make its way to Asheville, N.C., then back to Charlotte Douglas Airport
The theme for this year’s event is “Healthy Plants, Healthy You!,” and is meant to explore the ways plant life can impact human health and wellness.
According to the AAS website, attendees will see high-tech research, as well as diverse, small farms reminiscent of the early 1900s. A bonus experience is the beautiful scenery, delicious food (aka “Foodtopia”) and varied breweries (aka “Brewtopia”) in and around Asheville.
This year’s Summer Summit/Road Trip will be held during the same week as the 2014 Southern Garden Tour, meaning that, in one trip, attendees will be able to see many flower and plant trials in the Southeast.
