‘Martha’ Previewing Lilytopia With Van Den Berg

Dorien van den Berg, one of Holland’s top floral designers, is on her way to Lilytopia at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa. First, though, van den Berg is stopping by the studio of Martha Stewart tomorrow (May 13) to preview some of the best new breeding in the world of lilies.

Van den Berg is a sought-after Dutch designer with a global clientele that ranges from royal weddings to Keukenhof’s vaunted Lily Parade. She is the chief designer for the Longwood show. Lilytopia is both a consumer show and a professional showcase–one entirely devoted toward lilies–including a floral trade professional day on Monday, May 24.

With Stewart, van den Berg will discuss Lilytopia, preview new hybrids such as no-pollen L.’Triora’ and OOT hybrid L.’Table Dance’, a fourth-generation hybrid–an O x OT crossing where the Oriental bloodline is crossed twice. In a second segment Thursday, van den Berg and Stewart will build an arrangement in van den Berg’s naturalistic style.
