Mast Young Plants in Grand Rapids, MI, conducted its 21st annual field trials earlier this year. This year’s trials included several improvements, including new topsoil, uniform fertilizer lines, and new irrigation clocks equipped with WiFi, so the clocks can be activated from a grower’s phone, says General Manager Brian Weesies.
The operation creates what Weesies calls a “living catalog” to display every variety that Mast Young Plants roots and sells, totaling about 2,000 varieties. On top of that, there was also a cut flower trial and a summer survivor trial this year.
