Soiree Kawaii Activities

Suntory Flowers has partnered with leading independent garden centers on regional promotions for Soiree Kawaii catharanthus.

This will be Suntory’s second year partnering with Calloway’s, which has 22 garden centers in the Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston markets. Building on success from last year, Suntory is quadrupling the program with promotions in the stores and directly to Calloway’s base of 240,000 customers who receive email promotions.

Suntory Flowers is also sponsoring an extensive summer planting at Dallas Arboretum with 3,500 Soiree Kawaii plants and additional Suntory varieties. It is going to maximize promotions in the market through Calloway’s and the reach of the arboretum. The grand finale may be a Summer Soiree event in the garden. Suntory is aiming for July 30 for an evening invitation-only cocktail reception at the elegant Camp House facing the Soiree Kawaii garden.

Nationally, proceeds from cuttings sales will support the nonprofit Girls Inc, which serves girls ages six to 18 at more than 1,400 locations in more than 400 cities in the U.S. and Canada. This ties in with the Soiree Kawaii girl identity, and Suntory’s decision to support the empowerment of girls. Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Programming focuses on the development of the whole girl. One objective is to help break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

This summer, Suntory hopes to engage the Dallas Metropolitan and Tarrant County chapters of Girls Inc. with planting activities featuring Soiree Kawaii.

In New Orleans, Suntory is partnering with Perino’s Garden Center in Metairie, LA. The grower-retailer serves landscapers, and its destination garden center on Veterans Memorial Boulevard. The entire front beds will be planted with Soiree Kawaii, and there will be prominent signage and banners. Proceeds from Soiree Kawaii plant sales will benefit the New Orleans chapter of Covenant House, which helps homeless youths.

Soiree Kawaii varieties are tiny but terrific plants that thrive in summer conditions. Suntory Flowers is using the Soiree Kawaii brand to raise awareness and empower girls and youth. Kawaii means cute or pretty in Japanese.

Brindabella Roses Update

Suntory Flowers is continuing to promote the Brindabella line of fragrant, disease-resistant shrub roses. New posters and bench cards are available to download and print. A branded pot is in the works through a partnership with Griffin. Suntory is also looking at premium combos mixing Brindabella with the more compact Sunrosa roses. For instance, in a large urn, Brindabella would be in the center, surrounded by Sunrosa.
