McCrimmon founded Nexus Greenhouse Corporation as well as Dalco Engineering, a steel fabrication company. Part of his legacy today includes Don’s son-in-law Craig Kaiser, who serves as Operations Vice President of Nexus, and his grandson Aric, who is a customer service representative at Nexus.
Don founded Nexus to answer the horticulture industry’s need for a well-built greenhouse that would meet building requirements and withstand severe weather. In 1994, the company was purchased by Cheryl Longtin and Mike Porter, whose past experience in international corporations allowed Nexus to go beyond the traditional greenhouse manufacturing role. In 2016, Nexus was acquired by Gibraltar Industries, a manufacturer and distributor of building products for industrial, transportation, infrastructure, residential housing, renewable energy, and resource conservation markets.
McCrimmon was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte and their son, Neal. He is survived by his other children Kirk McCrimmon (Renee) and Donna Kaiser (Craig), and his eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
