Introducing Sandrine™ Copper Soap and Cintro™ Insecticidal Soap
BioWorks recently introduced Sandrine Copper Soap and Cintro Insecticidal Soap, two crop protection products designed for effective, targeted control of key fungal, bacterial, and insect pests within IPM programs. These solutions support commercial production in greenhouse, nursery, ornamental, and specialty crop systems.
Sandrine Copper Soap
Sandrine Copper Soap is a liquid copper octanoate formulation that provides broad-spectrum activity against fungal and bacterial pathogens, including:
- Bacterial leaf spots
- Botrytis
- Corynespora
- Downy mildew
- Powdery mildew
The dual mode of action combines:
- Preventative activity: The copper forms a protective barrier and inhibits spore germination.
- Curative activity: The octanoate penetrates infected tissue, disrupting cell membranes.
Sandrine Copper Soap delivers enhanced coverage with a lower metallic copper equivalent (MCE) of 1.8%, reducing the risk of phytotoxicity while maintaining efficacy. It is labeled for indoor use on crops, including:
- Cucumbers
- Melons
- Ornamental plants
- Roses
- Strawberries
- Tomatoes
- Vegetables
Sandrine Copper Soap has a 4-hour REI and 0-day PHI, improving operational flexibility.
Sandrine Trial Data
- In a trial recording bacterial spot on peaches, there was 55% reduction in disease incidence using Sandrine, compared to 30–40% with competitive products.
- In a trial recording the fungus Alternaria solani on tomatoes, there was 95% control with Sandrine, compared to 85% with competitive products.
Key Specifications of Sandrine
- Active Ingredient: Copper Octanoate
- Formulation: Liquid
- REI/PHI: 4-hour REI, 0-day PHI
Cintro Insecticidal Soap
Cintro Insecticidal Soap is a potassium soap of fatty acids providing contact-based control of soft-bodied insects, including:
- Aphids
- Leafhoppers
- Mealybugs
- Spider mites
- Thrips
- Whiteflies
The mode of action eliminates pests by damaging cell membranes and stripping away the protective waxes that shield the insect.
Cintro Insecticidal Soap is labeled for indoor and outdoor use and is effective on bedding plants, trees and shrubs, citrus and stone fruit, nuts, herbs, vegetables, and other specialty crops.
Cintro Insecticidal Soap has a 12-hour REI and 0-day PHI and is highly compatible with beneficials, making it an excellent tool for IPM integration.
Cintro Trial Data
- In a trial recording the control of diamondback moth larvae, there was a 96% mortality rate when treated with Cintro, compared to 10% with a horticultural oil treatment.
- In a trial recording the control of two-spotted spider mites, there was 92% control rate, compared to 82% with a competitive insecticidal soap.
Key Specifications of Cintro
- Active Ingredient: Potassium salts of fatty acids
- Formulation: Liquid
- REI/PHI: 12-hour REI, 0-day PHI
