Poppelmann Now Offers Biodegradable Pots

Poppelmann, the German-based company with a manufacturing facility in North Carolina, has developed a new line of biodegradable TEKU pots that degrade completely within three to four months under large-scale composting conditions.

TEKU biodegradable pots are olive green in color and available in three different sizes–3.5 inches, 4.125 inches and 4.75 inches. Poppelmann’s goal from the start was to create a material mix for biodegradable pots that not only degrades well, but offers serviceability and does not influence plant quality.

Two of the materials that make up more than 80 percent of the raw material in the pots are starch and vegetable dextrose, both renewable materials. Co-polyester, the third material, is a fossil material that is 100 percent biodegradable.
