These Tiny Pests Can Cause Big Trouble
Mites are a persistent problem that can appear any time of the year in greenhouses and under warm and dry situations outdoors. Although they are hard to see, a telltale sign includes a speckled or mottled appearance to the upper leaf surface. Leaves may also become dry and yellow in color and heavy infestations will leave a fine webbing that covers the plant. Because mites reproduce quickly and are present in various life stages, rotating solutions that affect the eggs, pupae and adult stages with differing IRAC modes-of-action is vital to a strong mite program.
During hot, dry weather the two-spotted spider mite can complete an entire life cycle in seven days. In that time, females can lay 200 eggs.
