Protect your crop now: apply greenhouse shading with a drone

ReduSystems® is the global leading brand in developing (shading) coatings and cleaners for greenhouse cultivation.

Too hot in your greenhouse?

During hot summers it is often not enough to close your movable screen to protect your crop. A shading coating keeps excessive light and heat out of your greenhouse. The coatings are weather-resistant, and you can easily remove the coating after the summer season with ReduClean.

Apply our coatings manually, by machine, helicopter, or drone.

Application with a drone

Times change and techniques as well. What is developed today, is old tomorrow. For years we have used three different application techniques to apply coatings on greenhouses. Manually (with a pressure pump and a spray gun), mechanically (with equipped machines driving on top of a greenhouse) and by air via a helicopter or airplane.

Now a fourth application method has come into play: drone application.

All ReduSystems coatings lend themselves to be sprayed with a drone.

Since the mixing ratio can differ per drone and product, we recommend contacting us when you apply with a drone for the first time. All over the world we have experts who are involved in drone application on a regular basis. They can advise on mixing ratios for your situation.

Let’s ask a grower

The climate on California’s Central Coast is perfect for growing orchids, provided you are able to protect them against the fierce radiation all year round. Cal Coast Orchids sells top-quality Phalaenopsis throughout the entire state and beyond.

Bas van Eijk, co-owner Cal Coast Orchids:

“We were at our wits’ end. The orchids had already been planted in the greenhouse and threatened to become burned. This is when we got the idea of applying a temporary ReduSol coating.”

The temporary coating has since become a year-round event at Cal Coast Orchids. ReduSol has proven to be a very good means of damping and diffusing the sunlight. The fixed screen is an extra safety tool in this regard and has a 70% heat retention capacity. “In the winter we start off with 30% shading. At the end of February, we apply a thicker layer on top of this. If necessary, we can add another layer in the middle of summer,” says Van Eijk.
