Biofilm is very difficult to eliminate, and greenhouse operations are particularly susceptible to problems. It establishes itself and thrives most easily in a nutrient-rich environment, with warm temperatures that are more conducive to bacterial growth, and with a large surface-area to water-volume ratio.
To help growers find and manage biofilm, Dramm Corp. recently developed a white paper detailing biofilm in the greenhouse. This resource outlines the basics of biofilms and the effective methods of control.
