Check these two digitalis varieties that caught the attention of Greenhouse Grower Editor Janeen Wright, Contributing Editor Allan Armitage, and Custom Content Editor Robin Siktberg this year at California Spring Trials 2019.
Digitalis ‘Pink Panther’ (American Takii)
‘Pink Panther’ is first-year flowering plant with small leaves that produces multiple flower spikes. It is a perennial to Zone 6, and North of Zone 6 it can be grown as an annual.
American Takii recommends growing ‘Pink Panther’ in gallon containers. No pinching or plant growth regulators are required.
Digitalis ‘Arctic Fox Rose’ (Darwin Perennials)
This first-year flowering, hybrid digitalis offers cold hardiness for northern growers, plus summer-long flowering for southern growers. ‘Arctic Fox Rose’ blooms on new shoots, and bloom color is more intense under cool conditions. It is hardy in Zones 5 to 9.
