A report from California Certified Organic Farmers says the state’s new cannabis regulations are being crafted by numerous state agencies. The State Water Resources Control Board recently issued two documents for review, the Cannabis Cultivation Policy and the General Order. Comments on each document are due Sept. 6, 2017.
The Water Board has also posted a Staff Report that provides the rationale for the draft policies. It will also accept public comments on this report.
The State Water Board is scheduled to hold two public hearings on October 17, 2017, in Sacramento, to receive oral comments regarding the Cannabis Policy and the General Order. The public hearing will be webcast at https://video.calepa.ca.gov.
Draft documents and other information are available on the State Water Board’s Cannabis Cultivation webpage.
Growers and potential growers outside of California may want to follow what happens in the state closely, as it could potentially affect future regulations in other states.
