Harrell’s and McHutchison Announce New Horticulture Hires and Promotions

Harrell’s and McHutchison have announced the following personnel changes and promotions.
Brooke Jerie de Manriquez Joins Harrell’s West Coast Horticulture Team
Harrell’s recently added Brooke Jerie de Manriquez to its west coast horticulture team as a Territory Manager, primarily serving Washington state customers in the Pacific Northwest. Her strategic new role will be the latest addition to the existing presence in Oregon with Territory Manager, Scott Renfro.

Brooke is going to serve our valued customers in Washington state, offering her expertise in plant health and bringing the best service in the industry with our broad portfolio of nutrition and plant health solutions. We are beyond excited to have her with us!” says Harrell’s Sales Director for Hort West, Marlon Carrera.
Brooke comes to Harrell’s with more than nine years of experience in the horticulture industry, mainly in nursery operations. She was most recently the lead horticulturalist for Iseli Nursery in Oregon, where Brooke was involved in different tasks such as implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices, tissue and soil testing, overseeing granular and liquid nutrient programs, and scheduling/monitoring chemical applications. Brooke received both her Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Ornamental Horticulture and her Master of Science in Agricultural Education degrees from Iowa State University.

McHutchison Announces Promotion of Kim Burns to Director of Vendor Management – Nursery
McHutchison has announced the promotion of Kim Burns to the role of Director of Vendor Management – Nursery. Burns originally joined the company in September 2021 as Vendor Program Manager, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience. Since that time, she has played a pivotal role in enhancing McHutchison’s vendor programs and driving strategic growth within the nursery category.
Burns has more than 30 years of experience in the industry and a strong track record of leadership across sales, marketing, operations, and procurement. Her career includes progressive roles with and for some of the largest and most respected suppliers in the industry, giving her a 360-degree understanding of vendor relations and category management.
“Kim’s promotion reflects the significant contributions that she has made in a short time and our confidence in her leadership going forward,” says Ken Turrentine, McHutchison President. “Her depth of experience and strategic insight will continue to be instrumental as we evolve our nursery category and strengthen supplier partnerships.”
In her new role, Burns will continue to lead vendor strategy and program development, driving innovation, efficiency, and excellence across the nursery supply chain.
McHutchison Hires Industry Veteran Ken McVicker
McHutchison has hired Ken McVicker as its Director of Sales – Nursery. With more than 25 years of experience in sales and marketing, he brings extensive leadership, professional expertise, and strategic insight to the McHutchison team.
McVicker is a well-known figure in the nursery industry where he has held key roles at both Van Essen Nursery and Woodburn Nursery which was his most recent stop before joining McHutchison. His long-standing relationships and proven track record in improving sales performance make him an ideal addition to the company’s leadership team.
