2017 Cornell University Field Trials Results
After the severe drought of last summer, the Cornell University Field Trials finally received some much-needed rain in 2017. June was about average for rainfull, but in July it poured, with 174% of normal precipitation. Fortunately, most of Cornell University’s 125-plus varieties seemed to adapt well, and it was a good trial season. This year, Cornell tried trialing tomatoes, both in ground and in containers. Although it wasn’t the best year for tomatoes, the trial manager reports that ‘Midnight Snack’ tomato from PanAmerican Seed was an stunner in-ground, while EarthWork Seed’s ‘Red Racer’ took top place for tasty tomatoes grown in containers.
