As of August 2020, the USDA had approved 20 state hemp production plans, along with dozens of tribal projects. This progress comes nearly two years after the 2018 Farm Bill legalized the regulated production of hemp in the U.S.
Other states and territories are in various states of program evolution, with only Idaho languishing with legislation.
Also this month, the Drug Enforcement Agency continued pro-hemp federal policy shifts, offering more clarity on the rules around hemp and CBD production. Changing legislation means more growers across America are considering hemp as a lucrative opportunity.
