Michigan Greenhouse Lettuce Grower Adding 50,000 Square Feet

Revolution FarmsA West Michigan greenhouse that grows lettuce year-round has plans to expand in 2021. Revolution Farms in Caledonia, MI, is currently growing varieties of leafy greens in a 50,000 square-foot greenhouse, and Head Grower Tam Serage says by next year the company will add an additional 2 acres to the greenhouse to grow even more lettuce in Michigan.

“We will have the potential to triple our output,” Serage says. “It will be an automated system with machine planting and machine harvesting, so there’s less potential for contamination.”

By blending technology and biology, supply chain and advances agriculture, Revolution Farms has created an environment to grow lettuce in any climate. In addition to the controlled environment, the company uses hydroponic techniques.

Take a closer look at Revolution Farms’ expansion in this video from Fox 17 in western Michigan.
