Monrovia Looks to Its Past With New Retail Plant Collection Program

Hydrangea ‘Seaside Serenade’

2026 will be a year of centennial celebrations for Monrovia, and garden centers can join the party. As the company marks its 100th anniversary, it is showcasing the top 100 iconic plants in a new program called Landscape Legends.

This anniversary collection includes a curated list of plants that have made history over the last 100 years, chosen for their enduring beauty, outstanding performance, and popularity with home gardeners and landscape professionals. The Landscape Legends Collection features selections for every zone and includes shrubs, perennials, houseplants, trees, and edibles. New tags will call out each plant’s status as a Landscape Legend.

Retailers who place an order of any of the Landscape Legends plants totaling $1,926 (the year Monrovia was founded) will receive a commemorative poster highlighting these historic plants. Customers who order twice the minimum will receive a custom poster with the garden center name and number of years it has been a Monrovia partner. Deadline for this custom program is approaching fast. Talk with a Monrovia representative before January 15.

“Research shows that consumers link brand longevity with trustworthiness,” says Katie Tamony, Chief Marketing Officer and trend spotter at Monrovia. “That trust can increase loyalty and purchase intent. Showcasing these legendary, craftsman-grown plants is a great differentiator and can be one more way to build a connection with your customers.”
