BioWorks Announces New Director of Horticulture Sales and Distributor Relations

BioWorks (a division of BioFirst Group), a leading provider of IPM solutions to the horticulture and specialty ag markets, recently announced that Ron Ostrander has joined the company as Director of Horticulture Sales and Distributor Relations. Ron’s responsibilities include leading the BioWorks horticulture sales team, managing channel partnerships, and developing new business in the horticulture sector.

With more than 30 years of sales experience in the horticultural markets, and most recently serving as Vice President of National Commercial Sales at OHP/American Vanguard, Ron will lead the sales team at BioWorks towards the next stage of growth. His reputation and connections across the industry will greatly strengthen the horticulture market development efforts at BioWorks.

Lisa joins Brent Horvath’s breeding team after a 15-year career at the Chicago Botanic Garden, most recently as the Head Horticulturist of the Fruit and Vegetable Garden. Two years were spent working with perennials in the Farwell Garden. While raising her family, she built a successful real estate career on the North Shore of Chicago, viewing countless private gardens and learning the importance of the role nature, gardens, and durable plants play in the quality of people’s lives.    

A native Minnesotan, Lisa has a B.S. in Geology, with a minor in French and Professional Horticulture certifications. She is an instructor at the School of the Chicago Botanic Garden and is media-trained, a speaker, and a garden writer.

In her new role, Lisa will help facilitate supply for existing licensees, provide focus for the breeding program, and manage the trial plant distribution and communications.

Kientzler Announces New Commercial Director of North America

Kientzler North America has announced the addition of Nathan Sell to its team as the Commercial Director of North America.  He brings more than 25 years of well-rounded industry experience to the team.  Most recently, he led Dümmen Orange North America as the Managing Director of North America. 

Sell will join Kientzler North America’s Managing Director, Steve Rinehart, as they look to expand their footprint in the region.  “Nathan and I are excited to work together, to continue to bring Kientzler genetics to North America, through our well-respected supply chain, anchored by InnovaPlant Costa Rica,” says Rinehart. 

Sell’s previous roles in Product Management, Sales, and Operations Management with companies like Four Star Greenhouse and the Kalamazoo Flower Group’s growers, give him a solid understanding of the industry and allow him to relate to his industry peers and customers. 

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from Michigan State University. He and his wife live in Southwest Michigan, where they have owned and operated their greenhouse and garden center for the past 20 years.
