Greenhouse Education Center Shows Plant Growth From Farm to Table
NatureFresh Farms staff took to the road again this year in the mobile Greenhouse Education Center to help consumers learn about how fresh vegetables progress from farm to table. This time they weren’t alone. Student leaders joined them on the road trip to visit retail locations, schools, and fairs where they will participated in 70 events across eastern North America.
NatureFresh Farms noticed that consumers’ unhealthy eating choices correlated with their lack of knowledge about how their food is grown and wanted to do something about it. NatureFresh built a 38-foot-long greenhouse on wheels and equipped it with actively growing vegetables, innovative growing technology, and a busy Bumble Bee ecosystem. Visitors to the Education Center get a behind-the-scenes snapshot of greenhouse growing, including a glimpse of the drippers, heating rails, and ventilation systems. The staff operating the Education Center encourages visitors to touch the plants and interact with the set-up.
