McHutchison and Plant Development Services, Inc. (PDSI) have announced the following personnel changes and promotions.

McHutchison Promotes from Within

McHutchison recently promoted Colton Carter as a new Sales Representative for Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northern Alabama.

Carter, a native of Raleigh, NC, has professional experience in the horticulture industry and looks forward to continuing his growth with McHutchison in this current role.

Carter started his career working in a variety of roles, including Turf Grass Specialist at Nature’s Select Triangle, Sales Representative at MNI Direct, and Assistant Grower at Metrolina Greenhouses, where he worked with spring annuals, mums, and poinsettias. He joined McHutchison in 2024 as a Customer Service Representative, where he supported sales efforts and served customers nationwide prior to his promotion.

A graduate of North Carolina State University, Carter earned his bachelor’s degree in horticultural science.

Plant Development Services Inc. Names Tyler Brown as Brand Sales Director

Plant Development Services Inc. (PDSI) has announced that Tyler Brown has been named Brand Sales Director. In this role, Brown will work closely with growers to drive demand and expand the market reach of PDSI’s collection of brands, including:

As PDSI advances its offerings of new plants, programs, and partner resources, Brown will step into a vital role, furthering relationships and insights from the field to accelerate the company’s strategic growth.

With a decade of experience in the horticulture industry, Brown will support PDSI’s product pipeline, communicating with network growers, chain retailers, and independent garden centers, identifying new opportunities to connect PDSI’s plant offerings with the needs of the marketplace, and providing valuable market intelligence to drive liner sales.

Most recently, Brown served as Mid-Atlantic Territory Manager for Star Roses and Plants, where he identified and educated on proprietary genetics from more than 100 suppliers, collaborated on market-informed production plans, and provided grower solutions. Prior to that, he was Southeast Sales Manager for HIP Labels, focusing on account growth and industry engagement. He also brings prior experience in plant production and team coordination, and is an active member of the International Plant Production Society.
