Survey Outlines Tariff Effects on Floriculture
Tariff policies put in place by the Trump administration in 2025 may not have had a measurable impact yet, but they have caused greenhouse growers to plan ahead accordingly. Greenhouse Grower’s 2025 State of the Industry survey included a few questions on the implications of tariffs.
On the question of “How have recent tariffs on imported materials (e.g., steel, glass, plastics, equipment) affected your greenhouse business operations?” 57% responded “somewhat negatively,” 35% said there has been no impact, and 12% responded with “very negatively.”
Which input categories have been affected the most by tariffs? The chart below shows what you had to say.

Finally, we also asked how your company has responded to increased costs related to tariffs.
- About 52% of growers are absorbing costs internally
- 51% plan to raise prices
- 27% are seeking alternative suppliers
- 13% are delaying or cancelling capital investments
