Harvesting Implement Wins 2020 Hemp Product Award

The first prize winner of the innovation award “Hemp Product of the Year 2020” is Henry’s Hemp Harvester (HHH).

The award was handed out virtually as part of the 17th EIHA Hemp Conference, which was moved online in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis and held June 16-17.

HHH is a front-loaded attachment for harvesting industrial hemp flowers and stems.

Company reps say it is especially suitable for small farms (as well as those who transplant young greenhouse hemp plants to outdoor acreage).

The implement, developed over in Germany, is a double-module, front-loaded attachment that is meant to be driven by a small tractor, and has an aluminium frame and rollers for weight reduction (less field compaction).

According to its winning entry, the HHH has spent four years in research, development and production. Its creators describe it as a durable technology that can mechanically harvest high-quality industrial hemp flowers without sacrificing precious trichomes and cannabinoids. Quality of the harvested material is maintained via all stainless steel flower contacting parts, and the main aggregates feature gentle hydraualic drives and an electric scissor-bar.

Runner up honors in the contest went to Morocco-based SUNIPLANT’S Modular, Off Grid Hemp House (second place), and German outfit Sachsisches Textilforschungsinstitut’s Lyohemp knitwear fabric (third place).
