Koppert has introduced Limonica Ulti-Mite, a patented innovation for sustainable thrips and whitefly control. This product combines the predatory mite, Amblydromalus limonicus, with slow-release technology: the Ulti-Mite sachet. Unlike traditional bottle applications, the sachet offers a continuous and controlled release of mites, ensuring longer-lasting protection.

Engineered for Excellence: The Ulti-Mite sachet

Limonica Ulti-Mite is an advanced version of Koppert’s predatory mite sachet concept. Made from 100% industrial compostable foil, it creates an optimal microclimate for mite reproduction and release, even under challenging conditions. Unlike traditional paper sachets, Limonica Ulti-Mite retains moisture and resists humidity fluctuations, ensuring uninterrupted mite development.

This slow-release system functions like a biological engine, allowing mites to reproduce within the sachet and emerge gradually over four to six weeks. The result is a sustained and reliable release of predatory mites, perfectly timed to match pest pressure in the crop.

An Effective Predatory Mite

Amblydromalus limonicus is a powerful solution, combining high predation rates with rapid reproduction and a broad target range. Each individual mite delivers consistent suppression of thrips and whitefly. Under optimal conditions, it also reproduces quicky, allowing for swift population growth and early intervention during pest outbreaks. Another distinguishing feature is its ability to target multiple developmental stages, including the more mobile and harder-to-control second instar (L2) thrips larvae. This ability provides early, strong, and long-lasting intervention in thrips populations.

A Strategic Solution Against Invasive Thrips

Field trials, including recent promising results in Spain against Thrips parvispinus, highlight the potential of Limonica Ulti-Mite as a key component in integrated pest management strategies for invasive thrips species. Its assertive foraging behavior and adaptability make it a valuable component in complex pest scenarios.

Reliable Performance Across Climates

Operating effectively in a broad temperature range, Limonica Ulti-Mite delivers even in cooler climates with temperatures as low as 14 °C. This versatility makes it suitable for year-round use, extending its benefits beyond the typical warm-season window.
